*Please note that this offer is exclusively available to purchasers of the Neuroscan device.

All this is now possible with Neuroscan:

Neuroscan is a wearable clinical grade Brain Computer Interface (BCI). Otherwise known as an electroencephalogram(EEG) device, very much like the ones used in a hospital setting. It detects and interprets electrical activity in the brain.

Designed to give the therapist the utmost confidence about the client's current most active brain state.

Simple to use and interpret and comfortable for your client to wear.

What’s in the Box?

1.   Guide

2.   Headband

3.   Neuroscan Device

4.   Charging cable to USB

5.   Sensor strip

Price: £395.00

To download the application you will need to have a compatible device such as an Android phone or tablet (please note the application is not suitable for use with any Apple or IOS device).

Unboxing and hardware set up

Before first use please charge the device for at least four hours for a full charge. (The battery once charged will last for at least 6 hours if turned off between use)

Getting Started

Please start by installing the Neuroscan APK file onto your Android device by clicking the download link (The APK file is clean and contains no virus).

  • Once installed do not open directly as the APK file will be blocked by your browser. You must go to your downloads or files and open from there.

  • The Neuroscan app will now be on the home screen of your phone or tablet.

  • You must now pair your device, this only needs to be done once.

Pairing the Neuroscan with your device

To pair your Neuroscan please ensure you have given it a full 4-hour charge before first use.

  • Turn on your Neuroscan by holding down the power button on the side for 5 seconds, it will start flashing blue. Go to your device's Bluetooth settings and Add a new Device. “MyndBand” should appear in your device list. Please confirm when you are asked to pair the device.

  • Once paired you can shut the Bluetooth window and open the Neuroscan application. Neuroscan Hypnophix Interface and Application When you first open the application you will see the main user interface, it is usually best to view in portrait rather than landscape mode.

  • It is also a good idea to turn off your screensaver timings so the screen does not go off after a certain time.

Connecting to Headset

In order to connect your headband please check it is still on and flashing blue. In the top right corner you will see the disconnected status indicator, please click on this to connect to the NeuroScan device.

Putting on the Neuroscan Headband

Your Neuroscan headband comes with a user guide, which shows the correct placement of the sensors. the pre-frontal cortex in the front of the brain is where higher thinking occurs, this is why the main sensor placement is in a position known as FP1. Please make sure there is no hair between the sensors and the forehead. If the connection is poor you will not see any data on the screen. Please wait 5-10 seconds for the signal to settle. If you do not have a good signal you will see the screen below:

If this occurs please readjust the headband placement (It should be about 1 inch above the left eyebrow) the headband should be attached firmly and secure but not so tight as to cause any discomfort.

Checking data quality and signal strength

The top data line is the raw data coming from the Neuroscan, it is Raw EEG at 512Hz and shows the quality of the signal we are receiving. It is recommended to wait until the signal is clean as in the examples below.

You can also use the raw data on the top line to show the user the EEG EMG response by getting them to blink a few times. If everything is set up correctly as the client blinks waveforms will show on the top line.

The first image.(fig1) below shows a noisy signal,

The second.(fig2) shows a clean signal.

It normally takes around 30 seconds for the signal to settle and for this to occur.

Once you have a good signal you will notice the brain icon will become less active along with the feeds of Focus and Calm Brainwaves, which are displayed in real-time. You are now ready to use the app.

The Application

The application consists of several elements that all visually assist the therapist.

These consist of:

  • The connection line is the top brainwave line reading at 512Hz and this will show that the unit is connected and the fitting is correct on the head.

  • The Brain state indicator is the image of the brain. This gives a dynamic visual colour change depending on the current brain state.

  • The Focus and calm waveform lines. These not only show in waveform how active the current brain state is, but they also relate it to a number between 1 and 100.

  • The objective of the application is to notify the therapist when the user is in the ideal receptive state to progress to the “body” of the hypnosis treatment, identified as Focus and Calm and the fluctuation between the two states.

  • Remember the neuroscan device is there as a guide to assist you in your clinical work and not every user will react in the same way. Whilst the universal principle of brainwave activity is consistent and therefore is a benchmark, there will be users with very low suggestibility who may never achieve the perfect trance state. This however should not be seen as an obstacle. You will certainly notice movement in the right direction of both focus and calm even if these are small and incremental with some users, they will exist and can be evidenced via the neuroscan device.

  • It is not expected that in the first few minutes of induction, the client reaches the perfect link between focus and calm (this after all is the point of your induction and deepener).

  • The Brain State Indicator: (Image of the brain)

  • If the user’s level of calm is below 50 the brain will remain in off mode. (So the plan must be to get the user’s level of calm above 50 as the session progresses) When the user level of calm goes above 50 the brain image will start to go green and get brighter as the calm increases to a max of 100 which will be full brightness; if the focus indicator is 50 or below at the same time as the calm is above 50 the brain glow will with a gentle purple glow to the front of the brain image to indicate peak state.

First image: Focus indicator above 50  and Calm is below 50. Therefore the brain state indicator is a sandy colour and the client is not in a receptive calm state.

Seconf Image.png

Second Image: Focus is below 50 and Calm is above 50 as the Calm is above 50 the brain interface has turned to green this is a good sign that the client is in a calm state

Third Image.png

Third Image: This is the ideal brain state. Focus is Below 50 and Calm is above 60.

 General Usage

  • The Neuroscan is a tool to help therapists in their clinical work and needs not be constantly monitored. As a general pattern, it only needs glancing at every couple of minutes to gauge the client’s current brain state.

  • It is often beneficial to note the first set of numbers(Focus and Calm) after the first couple of minutes of starting the session then note again just before the end of the session. This will give you  strong scientific data as to whether the client’s brainwaves have entered the optimum state.

What is the science behind Neuroscan?

The average human thinks about 70,000 times a day. This process of thinking causes neurons to react with each other collectively, this creates a tiny electrical impulse that we call brain waves

This is termed “Event-Related Potential”. There are five different brain wave patterns these are pictured below:

The Neuroscan device will pick up these brainwave patterns and interpret them via an algorithm as “Focus” and “Calm”.

We know that under hypnosis there is a reduction in connections between the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex and the default mode network. It’s believed this is a separation between your actions and your awareness of those actions your ability to engage in an activity without having to focus on it, out of habit or through “muscle memory. Weakening these connections can open people in hypnosis to new actions outside of their normal routines
